“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom,” said Aristotle. While we certainly can’t argue with him, what about the path to discovering oneself? How can you know which version of yourself you truly are among all possible selves? Aristotle might not have had an answer to this, as photography did not yet exist in his time.

“He who is brave is free.” — Seneca

Imagine trying on different personas, revealing yourself, and stepping into something you’ve never done before. It’s possible to do this if you’re also shedding a mask, taking a moment to reflect, and I see this through the lens of my camera. The camera captures emotions and states of being in a way that nothing else can. The image is merely a tool; it helps with mood and self-perception.

We visited an old studio in London, with Alexandra’s birthday coming up. We simply captured it for memories. The moments may pass, but the photographs remain to remind us of who we are as years go by.

The more I traveled, the more I realized that fear makes strangers of people who should be friends. The only way to understand what someone else is going through is to listen, learn, and empathize. We are all on our journeys, and finding oneself is about accepting that every experience, no matter how painful, is an opportunity for growth and understanding.” — Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
